We are thrilled to share that we are one step closer to opening a new freestanding ER in Perdido Key. A groundbreaking ceremony recently took place, bringing together Ascension executive leaders, caregivers, board members, and donors to celebrate this significant milestone. This event marked a major step forward in our commitment to expanding healthcare access to the Perdido Key and surrounding communities.
This new ER is a continuation of our longstanding dedication to providing quality healthcare in the region. Our journey began 35 years ago with primary care services in the Perdido Key area, and in 2017, we opened the first health center in the community. The new ER, set to open in the fall of 2025, will strengthen our ability to deliver essential medical services to residents of southwest Escambia County.
The facility will be jointly operated by Sacred Heart Pensacola and Studer Family Children’s Hospital, ensuring that we provide both adult and pediatric care at a convenient location for local families. More than 40 associates will work at the new care site, contributing to our mission of delivering compassionate, high-quality care to those who need it most.
This development emphasizes our ongoing efforts to extend our Mission of caring for the most vulnerable in our community. It’s a step forward in ensuring that residents of southwest Escambia County have access to the care they need, when and where they need it. With this new freestanding ER, we will continue to build on our legacy of service and make a positive impact on the health and well-being of the region.
